Included are the working files of the Director, Miguel A. Marin, 1947-1962, containing correspondence, reports, clippings, and other documents on the United Nations Commission on India/Pakistan, particulary the situation in Kashmir, 1947-1960; and the United Nations Commission on Ruanda-Urundi, 1961-1962. Also included are working papers, 1947-1956, on the many questions before the United Nations, including the policies and functions of the Security Council, Korea, Vietnam, South Africa and the Apartheid question, the disposition of the former Italian colonies of Eritrea, Libya, and Somaliland, the Palestine question, and others. Also included are the non-registry files of the European Affairs Section.

In 1945, four individuals who had worked on the Manhattan project-John L. Balderston, Jr., Dieter M. Gruen, W.J. McLean, and David B. Wehmeyer-formed a committee and wrote a letter to 154 public figures asking for their opinions about the possibility of the creation of a world government.
